Web Design and Build: what does that entail or include?
Ok so you want either an upgrade or a brand new site. What is there to think about? Just smash one out eh? That's what the last guy told me. She'll be right!
Hold on a second there, there are a few things that you may need to think about.
Who is your website for?
Are there things that you can do, unrelated to Backlinks, Citations, Content Creation, or GMB in for example the layout of your site which will attract the attention of the search engines.
What can I do?
There are a multitude of little 1% improvements you can make to a site to increase it's chances of ranking in the search engines. Speeding up how fast the site loads, shrinking the size of your photos, adding video, naming your photos, naming the tabs in your pages, adding <h1> tags to highlight to the search engines what that page is about.
Some of these things the search engines will tell you don't matter that much but put them all together and you are rewarded with a higher ranking in the search engines.
But dude, I'm not selling anything to Google and Bing!
I hear you, but they are the gatekeeper between you and potential customers. In the days when Yellow Pages essentially was Google your ad turned up on the same page as everyone else.
Is that all?
Well getting your prospect on your page would be a great start. But now you've got your prospective buyer on your page, but now, you have to convince the person that the search engine has taken to your page, to do something, to carry out some action. Fill out that form, click that 'Call Now' button, ring for an appointment or reservation visit your place of business...
OK so how do I increase my chances of that happening?
I'm glad you asked, you can use cognitive biases in your favour; cognitive biases are a persons system of thinking that are not necessarily rational. They're short cuts people use to make up their minds in the absence of sufficient information. For example adding things like social proof, authority, credibility, guarantees, the 'number precision effect', loss aversion, consistency, scarcity among other things to the various elements that appear on you page. Using these cognitive biases help you stand out, get ahead of the competition and make people want to take the appropriate action... with you.

Who is your website for?
- Is it for you or do you need it to do some work for you?
- Is it essentially a showroom for your wares to entice people into a shop or premises where the business is likely to be done like a garage, restaurant or tint shop?
- Is your primary aim to get your customer to phone you so you can do business at their location?
